Release Engineer, Staff
Job Responsibilities:
Responsibilities Provide superior customer satisfaction to software developers, QA engineers, and engineering management. Setup, maintain, and provide training on usage of imake- and GNU make-based build system. Setup, automate, monitor, and troubleshoot nightly build, test, and packaging activities. Assist developers and QA in debugging compiler- and integration-related build failures. Perform SCM (Perforce) tasks on UNIX and Windows platforms. Perform third party tool compilation and installation. Maintain and enhance test harness. Participate in establishing and enhancing processes and policies to ensure predictable and reliable build and release cycles. Exercise judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Represent the organization on projects and perform in project leadership role.

Job RequirementsRequired Experience: BS in CS/EE with 8+ years experience in software engineering / build and release engineering. Strong knowledge of all phases of the software development life cycle. 2+ years of experience with C/C++ coding. Extensive experience in Perl and ksh scripting and working knowledge of HTML, XML, Tcl/Tk and other shell scripting languages. Extensive experience in imake, GNU make, GNU and native C/C++ compilers. Strong knowledge of various variants of UNIX/Linux. Working knowledge of Windows development. Working knowledge of code analysis tools such as Purify, PureCoverage, Quantify, and Coverity. Working knowledge of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to work well with developers, test engineers, and non-engineering personnel. Strong verbal and written communication skills. It is essential that the individual demonstrate good analysis and problem solving skills and be a continuous learner interested in broadening technical expertise. Desired Experience: Experience porting to and debugging on Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, AIX. Familiarity with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and web technologies (PHP, CGI, J2EE, JavaScript). Experience with UNIX administration (one or more of Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, AIX). Familiarity with deploying and maintaining open source tools, such as Tinderbox, Apache, and Tcl/Tk.
